Eric Bishop's Webpage
Most of what you will see written here is highly derivative of the ideas of wiser people. It should be taken as a reflection of how my worldview was developing at the particular time in my life where I wrote something. If I live long enough I guess myself or my future kids can look back and see what typa wave I was on in the 2020s đ. If I don’t live long, well then this website will get to outlast me (which isn’t meant to sound glib). We’ll leave all sorts of online artifacts behind someday, and this website is one I find personal value in.
Having a personal website is different than âcontent creationâ on social media because absolutely no one will comment on whatâs on your personal site so you donât have to be worried about the vanity of it as much. You can be authentic and thoughtful. There is no like counter or comment section and it puts you at ease to do what you want. It can be perfectly unique to you and extremely esoteric. I think the more esoteric, the better. Whatever is on my mind the most I can regurgitate in my own way here.
Combining the ideas Iâve gotten from various âthinkersâ, teachers, and writers helps me articulate my understanding of their ideas and I think itâs fun to write something, and maybe give even just one person exposure to an idea they either haven’t encountered, or needed as a reminder.
When youâre trying to learn more about life and yourself the goal should be to develop the particular lens you use to frame your world so that you stay on a consistent path. Writing can help to solidify these things and acts as a reminder of truth. There are multiple worldviews people use to frame their life and since humans are bad at being truly objective I think everybodyâs worldview involves some degree of superstition and general delusion as to what actually matters. Pick your delusions and superstitions wisely and pick a worldview that doesnât turn you into a negative or unkind person. It really is anyone’s choice to stop being bitter and self-defeating. Rest assured knowing that you can always shed any bad thought pattern or harmful attitude, and your mind is malleable.
